The Site and Existing Building
The site is located to the north of St. David’s, the famous Cathedral City, on a flat area of the St. David’s peninsula giving extensive views at the rear over open countryside with distant views of Carn Penberry. The existing building had originally been a farm outbuilding and was converted some years ago with little regard to either the local vernacular style or quality of the conversion.
The Brief and Design
Our brief was to create a private suite for the owners, a new entrance, general refurbishment, update the services and at the same time be eco friendly by reducing the carbon load. The latter was achieved by a combination of geothermal heating source linked to underfloor heating and solar water heating.
This project was a regional winner in Building Excellence. The project was nominated by Pembrokeshire County Council.
