The clients house was looking to purchase a property near the sea in order to enjoy their retirement with dog walking nearby. As they knew what David Haward Associates could do with the design, particularly with the location rather than the type of property. The brief was to modernize the property, including services & insulate to reduce the Carbon footprint.
The property lies on a large well proportional plot with sea views from the first floor, when looking from the side elevation. The property was renovated with new Mechanical & Electrical services that incorporated Solar Collectors, heat store & pellet fueled Boiler. To reduce heating in the house the whole building envelope was upgraded with External Wall Insulation, triple glazing & a new well insulated roof. The first floor reading room was added to take advantage of the sea views & the rear extension had a new roof to create a double height space from the library to the dining room.
